Hi everybody. I notice that in this forum the chi concept is very used. I think that is the inner force of a person. Is that right? Can someone explain me what is the chi and what is used for?. Is there a way to feel it? Thanks for your replies.

What is chi...my opion of course

A simple example would be watching Michael Jordan going in for a lay-up and how he INTUITIVELY OUT-WITS and OUT-MANEUVERS his opponents. This is only possible due to his highly refined nervous system due to a properly organized workout regime. All serious atheletes at one time or many times experience this natural phenomena; time may seem to slow down, you feel one step ahead, boundless energy, an incredible sense of calm, heightend senses and awareness. These are all "symtoms" of chi raised to a heigher state and available to all who are willing to be discipline.

chi concept

Hi,

Chi concept was rooted in Chinese ancient philosophy. Chi basically is inner energy that run inside throughout the body in channels (called median). Chi can be applied to improve health (chi kung exercises) and martial art too but of course at high level. Today, in my oppinion there are a few masters can apply chi in combat since now many just heed external factor only like speed, strength, timing.....

For more detail, I would recommend you log on to chikung websites.

Chi is not abstraction of physical strength at all. While physical strength is generated by muscles and speed, chi is generated and stored at dan tien (about 2 inch under the navel)and directed by mind. Of course, every one naturally has chi but to develop chi and use chi is not easy. It requires that you train under qualified teachers if not it will be even dengerous for your health. Chi can be applied not only for health (through chikung exercises) but also in combat. Howerver, It seem that there are fewer and fewer mastial art masters can truly apply chi im combat. It is a pity.

If you are really interested in chi, then I would recommend you log on to following website. In my oppinion it is an interesting one by a master who is knowledgeable about both chikung and martial art: http://wongkk.com/. I myself like the section: answers to questions on this website.
