CONCEPT JKD is not Filipino martial art disguised as JKD. Remember that Bruce said to not be "for or against." We do use alot of Kali training drills, but we do this for scientific reasons to develop attributes conducive to increase empty handed fighting ability.

What Bruce taught was light years ahead of his time, and it still is ahead of the game. Bruce did not want JKD to become a style. He said it himself. "My truth is not your truth." Alot of people want to do what Bruce did, and that is fine, but please don't discredit JKD Concepts. We focus on attribute development instead of techniques. Kali is just one means to that end.

Techniques will do no good if you don't have the attributes to apply them. Bruce made that clear in Tao of Jeet Kune Do. He called them "qualities." Things like range awareness, speed, timing, endurance, strenth, line familiarization, etc.

I usually describe JKD Concepts as consisting of scientific training "templates," which can be applied to any art to increase it's efficiency and practicality. I never claim to teach exactly what Bruce taught, but I do appreciate what he has taught. I have learnred alot from you Jun Fan JKD guys. My instructor (Dave Durch)had Ted Wong do a seminar at our studio and I considered it to be invaluable! I will say that you guys could learn from us too though, and thats what we should all be doing. Thats what JKD is about, to me anyway.
