Happy New Year - its midnight here in eastern Australia. Fireworks are lighting up the clouds!
I bought my new camera yesterday, but don't know how to take night photos yet. Instead, a description of Brisbane weather for now:
With the low pressure system still off the coast, we have had mostly wall-to-wall white & grey clouds, but with enough breaks to note at least 3 levels of cloud, all scurring north-east at a fast rate. This is interspersed with light drizzle - warm but a nuisance - but only amounting to a few mm all day and although not breaking the drought, at least it is soaking in. The temperature is unusually cool for this time of year - currently 22 degrees C in my porch. Oddly, the southern States are getting the heatwaves this year!
Will take photos in the daylight, then figure out how to send them!

Thanks for the offer of assistance. Computers do still puzzle me somewhat - mainly their limited use of our language, which I frequently find ambiguous. I drive my employer nuts with my constant need to jot instructions down in case I forget exatly what a particular word means to the computer - or what word the computer uses for the task - & his website is such an integral part of the job! I lack what is called confidence, but I get there. Also we still haven't fully set up the replacement computer after the pre-christmas crash.
I am not sure if I will have any useable photos, as I am still learning how to operate my camera (Canon Ixus 70). Brisbane is not offering a lot of variety in clouds today, only a sudden shower when I venture out! I know there are other member/photographers in Brisbane & they will probably beat me this year with some good shots. That takes the pressure off.
Hope you are having a Happy New Year yourself.

PS. It is 10.20am, the temperature is 25C, cloud cover is currently about 70%, 3 layers of torn white clouds & white cumulus, all racing across the sky towards the north-east - wonderful to watch, but not photographic. The sun is shining now, but it was raining when I started this entry.

What a lovely photo, Ian. I love fireworks but don't have them any more since we got a noise-phobic dog.
Happy New Year to one and all, keep looking up - the sky is a constant surpirise.

Stayed home New Years Eve so didn't film anything but that picture Ian is awesome. For those who don't remember I'm a cloud enthusiast in the United States but I take the spiritual angle trying to prove God exists by posting videos on youtube. Just checked out the new pictures on "Clouds That Look Like Things" and some of the pictures are phenomenal. I'm wishing everyone a Happy New Year and do what you got to do to promote the clouds ....be it a cumulous photo, a wispy viagra pic, a twisty tornadoe take ...whatever you do ....do it your way!!!
