I read on this site that a local artist was opening a cloudspotting cafe in Anderby Creek in March. Does anybody know anything further? Has it opened? I can't find anything about it on the Internet.

Hi Lisa, I visited the site a few months back and work had not been started, it is proving quite controversial, I chatted to a few of the locals at Anderby and I got the impression from some of them that they felt the money for it would be better spent providing other more important local facilities. Will make some enquiries..........IanL...
ps Some great skies there, sure it would be a popular destination for many visitors.....a few of the large number of shots taken on my visit displayed below...

Thanks, Ian. That's a pity - a posse of us were hoping to go and visit (and hopefully see some cumulus radiatus...). Thanks for the lovely photos, though!

Heh where I was yesterday would have been a great place for cloudspotting. I was on the ridge at Sharpenhoe Clappers in the chilterns. It was blowing a hoolie on the windward side but there is a gorgious sloping chalk meadow where you could lie on and watch the cumulus clouds streaming in quickly on the breeze from all the way to the horizon. Cool!
On the leeward side was a similar view the other way. Roudn there, in the shelter of the ridge there were hundreds of butterflies too, including Marbled White and Dark Green Fritillary. So a pleasant couple of hours plodding the ridge in unexpectedly sunny weather too.
Another Chilterns spot with an all round view is the topof Ivinghoe Beacon, pretty much like the top of a dome almost.
Hope the Cafe works out.

Thanks, Ian. I'll keep checking this site, so if you do hear anything, let me know. A Cloudspotters' reunion! Fab idea! We could all be identified via our society badges.
Mike - I've made a note of your recommendations and checked out Sharpenhoe Clappers on the web (out of sheer delight in the name if anything else...). The tourist info has a terrific picture of the cloud streets I love: http://www.chilternsaonb.org/imagegallery.asp
so thanks!
