OK, so there does not appear to be such a thing as I saw late this afternoon. Above were playful white high pressure clouds, mares tails, the odd remnant trail; to the west was a long low bank of dark cloud. Out of the bank just covering the sun came a dark arching cloud, about 1/4 of a full bow, slightly broader than a typical bow, lower than a passing mid-high plane.
My first thought was a distrail, but too low, too broad and not transparent.
I was so stunned by it that after a while I snapped it with my DMC-FX30 shirt pocket camera. But dont get too excited as I have never tried to transfer the image to my computer (though I have once done this with my little used Nikon DSLR).
Does anyone have any suggestions, please?

Yea, verily. It does seem to be captured by my camera (says a lot for modern cameras) but at the moment either XP2 or Nikon PictureProject is failing to recognise either camera exists at the other end of a USB cable. Am checking with my local expert.

Thanks for the thought Mark, but no there was no E file in My Computer. My advisor suggested right clicking Start and using Explore to read the images; but Explore showed no E file either. So I started thinking. It turned out I had pushed the USB cable into the computer's Ethernet socket. Once correctly connected, Nikon PictureProject happily transferred the Panasonic images.
I am quite pleased with the result. Ian is probably wondering what I might do next, as indeed am I, but I will try and get a picture on the forum one day.
I suggest we close this thread since the anti-cloudbow name was a bit of a joke and perhaps should not be propagated. Perhaps I will go for a new accessory cloud type e.g. Stratus nebulosus opacus digitus (fingerlike); I dont know what Cloudycat might think. Perhaps wait and see...
