Well worth remembering the code, MikeL. I was underneath an event like the third picture three years back - its on camera but I am still thinking about how to present it. The interesting thing is I also have a picture of it from 10 miles away on the Isle of Wight - a mackerel sky submitted to local TV.

The last minimalist picture is sublime.

..omg,I can't even repeat here the code word I had to retype at Tinypic for this download! What in the world! Anyway H, thanks for your kind words. Despite the often referral to " mackerel" skies as common, I found it to be exhilarating while under a large swath of it. The last pic as " minimalist" is a great call. The repetition of line, form and color in opposites brings interesting intersections between Ma Nature and the human eye. When spotting the scene, I was struck by how the cloud looked like a pencil sketch, being of so fine a line. The detail is more visible when taken to 8x10 or above. Overall, even the Earth doesn't suffice to keep the shot anchored.

For a completely unanchored pic, i caught some cirro-cumulus passing between two contrails; one fresh and one ( the arch) about 45 minutes old. Those planes take me away.

Don't Know When I'll Be Back Again
