On 1/18/12 I posted a photo at this site of Split Mountain, with a fine rotor cloud. In the week since, our first storm system of the winter has blessed us with snow. Here is a pic, exactly one week later, of Split Mountain (14,051 feet) with new snow, from my privileged position in the Inyo Mountains of California, gained by hiking uphill for over two hours (and worth every calory):

Mmmmm. Lovely, AK, and I am sure very artistic too.

The ST Magazine 23JAN12 has some fabulous pictures by Yann Gross of man-made avalanches (health and safety) in the Swiss Alps looking like a valley full of cumulus. But I cant find them on-line.

The almost symmetrical composition is remarkable AK. The mountains seem to be welcoming with open arms while having their heads in the clouds. Is it possible to anthropomorphise landscape features?

I just love the contrasts in colour and texture in this photograph, AK! And the balance. And, yes, Helen - I'm sure one can anthropomorphise landscapes (or anything, for that matter)! I hope your wonderful photographs are being published somewhere, Andrew - it's not just the awesome landscape you are surrounded by that makes them outstanding, but the eye that captures them. Thank you.

Very nice colouring and framing. A mountain shaking out a thin duvet of clouds.
