Thanks for taking the time to respond. Much appreciated.
I don't think "it would be preferable to the CAS Gallery", just different. Would it "compete or confuse"? I suppose there would be some general overlap, but the confusion would be mostly on my part! In most hobbies or pastimes, there a many sites catering for a myriad of tastes. Usually, there is one site which is head and shoulders over all others. With our interest, that has definitely got to be the CAS. It is the premier site catering for all cloud enthusiasts. The majority of people would, in the first instance, submit their photos to this site. That is completely understandable.
What I am envisioning is a site where people can submit their sky related photographs either individually or in larger sets, in much higher quality than they can on CAS. Very often, people will only submit their best photo from a series of images they took at the time. Sometimes it is nice to see an extended set, an extended meditation if you like, on how a particular formation has developed. Most people like to share their work with others and photographers are no exception. Why take a photo and then have it languish on your hard drive for evermore? I may be wrong and I may have totally misjudged this, but I think quite a few cloud photographers would welcome the opportunity to be able to display their work to their fellow enthusiasts on a well presented site that is fast and easy to use. We are, after all, vain creatures!
And what about non-photographers? Perhaps they could participate also by offering their thoughts on particular cloud related matters. I wouldn't necessarily want it to become a soapbox, but perhaps the odd well written article would fit in nicely?
Okay, enough from me, what do others think?
