A nice conjunction of the Moon, Venus and Jupiter this evening,
I've been waiting for this alignment all week. Venus and Jupiter have been locked quite nicely in a holding pattern for a few days now, but this evening the Moon was in the perfect position. If you look at the top of the photo, you'll also notice the dot, dot, dot, dash, dash, dash of either a satellite or an aircraft's landing lights.
Can any of you astronomers out there tell me what the elongated reddish smudge is to the left of Jupiter? It appears on all the photos I took this session so it's not a plane or anything moving.
