Yes, I think we're due for a new thread on Black and White Cloud Photography as well. So , starting things off with a wind blown serious looking cirrus type cloud display. I like giving clouds the organic touch.

This bit of cirrus looks to me like a flowered stem in a vase

Well of course Shakira, Cirrustalk! Good one!
And below a strange rendition of undulatus way up high ; when I took the shot alls I thought was,,that ought to be interesting on the computer. IMHO the clouds formed up a rather unusual still life,,,looks like a busted 1951 Plymouth Torque Flite automatic transmission or simply..Gizmo Cloud

There are cloud pictures that are so ..unnerving,,of different reality,,that for me one way to deal with them or one way to deal with the feeling they evoke from inside,,is to deal with it all with a sense of humor. This picture below , over a month old, still elicits the uncomfortable to the degree of having to make " ha ha " when looking at it. So like said so many times by the rascally rabbit, I name the pic,
" I Knew I Should Have Made A Left Turn At Albuquerque!"

Lovely shots Mike, I love the nyph shot and the "gear box" cloud reminds me of a decorated Mexican hat for some reason.

I considered posting this to Urban Cloudspotting, but thought it belonged better in the B&W string:

Nice truck shot, AK. The truck is just passing through. The mountains will be there in some form, long after the trucks have gone (and all the people to operate the trucks as well!)

Reluctant Cloud

At the beginning of this Monsoon season I caught a particular event. It was odd because the condensation seemed reluctant to form into anything recognizable. Perhaps that is the point. The shot below shows a few left over altocumulus stratiformis perlucidus long broken up and dissipated from the their patch of uniformity peaking thru a lower mist trying to become perhaps a stratiform of its own but never quite making it past what you see here, a thin hairy fog that maybe was just to bashful to pronounce itself definitively. At best , it was the weakest lower level stratiform I've seen in memory.

These bear a startling resemblance to Monet's waterlilies.

Another great collection building. The 'cloud nymph' is topical in that it would be fitting for either the gymnastics (a very poised finish) or the swimming in the Olympics.

Love the Observed

HAA! I love your observations ladies!. Monet's Water Lilies was the first Impression I got also from seeing those clouds. Below is one more pic of them. Unfortunately that session could have gone better if I had not used any filter nor increased contrast programming. I lost the delicacy by staying with the contrast. But thats the picture, the actual event was like..Wow! A Monet Painting Right Over My Head!! Something that has been on my mind for a while..and it happens, but I got the wrong set up in the camera for it...oh well. This Monsoon season is not over yet.
..I've been holding onto that nymph shot for a bit and yes, intuitively I chose to post it with the Olympics approaching.. and it works! And for the life of me I don't know why I didn't even hint about the Venus Fly Trap . That occurred to me, oh,,about a million times. But, you Ms Brown get the post. Good hearing from you and perhaps we'll be hearing more from you in the future? yes?

..Anda big Thanks to You All for your comments. Below is a ..one of those shots where I didn't think on it , but just took the shot and said to myself, I'll see what I got when I bring it up on the computer. In other words.. On Intuition..and Trust. I suppose I could call the photo that, but I like Cloud Cove also because that is what the display suggests to me ..either that or a Cloud Dessert..I can see cake and ice cream .

Now that you mention it, yes, of course Anita, there is ..well i see a whole bird of prey, owl like, wings out and all.

Below is a shot I've been holding on to for awhile. I suppose " Cloud Tree" would be an easy name for it. Yet the lighting was so thin and contrast precious. Perhaps this shot is just the opposite of Ansel Adams' Pinon Pines in the middle of a High Sierra meadow.
