The picture below is a stitch of 4 shots. The composite picture is of the Valley of The Sun, comprised of the cities of Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa and a handful of smaller communities. This picture was taken from northern Mesa area of the Valley on a typical monsoon day in early September. The weather had decided to stay west of the Valley and not enter into the Valley. So , it was a great opportunity to give scale to the Valley and its seasonal monsoon weather.
If possible, its a good idea to drag the picture to your computor and enlarge it to full width of your screen. On the far left of the picture, way in the background , the hill there is South Mountain. In the middle of the picture are the twin knolls of Papago Park in Tempe. To the right of those the pyramid shape is the more distant Camelback Mountain of Phoenix and to the right and further to the west is the North Mountain complex of hills. Further north and west on the far right is the Thunderbird Park area of hills. And forming the back drop, to the west of the whole Valley, is a cell of moisture laden atmosphere boiling up from the equatorial regions south. As I recall the afternoon temperature that day was a cooler 105f.
