If any defencemen looking to move up to AA please keep an eye out and call around. Lots of AA defencemen positions open in the east. Our team is looking for any defencemen that is pretty decent as we were short all year long.

The bottom line about the Duffield goalie is baggage. If he so good and in such high demand he would have had his commitment by now, he is greedy and had been greedy his attitude he is high maintaince and his parents can cause problems.
We were scouting him for our team and passed we did not need the headaches, even if it is partially true he then is a partial problem.... he is not that good that we are willing to chance this.

Duffield Devils looking for a couple of forwards and a couple of defence and one goalie, players that left have left because they knew they were not willing to work hard and be part of a good nucleus of kids who all work hard and have the same goals of being the best that they could be.
If you would like to be part of a winning team, contact the coaching staff you have maybe two to three years of hockey left before you hit the mens leagues why not go out a winner and not a whiner.

I agree we played on a bottom team and we played duffield we tried to shadow 71 and then they had 17 , 9, 3,61,7,21,19 and on and on ..this team plays with a system and everyone plays hard.If I would be able to get a release for my son , this the team I would rather play.You can see this whole team run together while our team the boys were fooling aruond in the dressing room and didn't take it serious.Iknow a couple of parents were impressed on our team.V Panthers , oh no, to much of a woodbridge team and they don't take it serious enough.Loud mouth parents on that team..No Way...PLEASE!!

Not changing many players. The word on the street is most are re-sign and the ones that want to leave are not getting PTS anywhere else. Beware they are just trying to get out as many players to tryouts so they can make money. Your kids won't stand a chance getting on any of those teams. It is really great to hear that last years parents are so supportive. I will suggest to all of them that should they continue this nonsense and trust me the coaching staff knows who the group is that is responsible,they will be sued for slander.
Perhaps next time you sign a contract with a team you should read it in full. If you did you would have known that PTS and releases are not given out until roosters are filled. When releases are granted coaches requesting releases do speak to the new coaching staff about the attitudes of both players and parents. I would think twice about continuing this conversation as you may not wish to burn anymore bridges.

PTS is typically not given prior to tryouts, primarily because clubs want to ensure that they are not left without a complete roster. personally, i don't see the sense in having life-time cards in A hockey but those are the rules and some teams like to enforce them and others don't.
as to this loop, i suspect the DD, VP and VR will once again dominate next season, because they all have a solid core of good players and will only make adjustments to improve their teams.
Re VP - and i am in a position to comment on them - the AC from last season is becoming the head coach and there will be 2 new assistant coaches - one being a non-parent and the other being one of the current parents. I think this is a good development for the team because the occasional coaching change provides a breath of fresh air for the players. This is in no way a reflection on the departing head coach who devoted his time to the team and deserves the respect of parents and players for his commitment.
As to player movement from VP, #4 is staying put after reconsidering his planned move to AA. I suspect the coaching staff will try and upgrade the forwards on a couple of spots with AA players. As to the rumpours of one of the goalies moving on .... who knows and who cares ... this team had 2 equal goalies last season and will surely find a competent replacement if one goalie decides to move.
As to DD and VR, I cannot comment. Suffice it to say that both teams play excellent hockey and have my respect. I don't think anyone can argue that DD is not a worthy champion - they are clearly one of the best A teams in the province.
As to the rest of the teams in the loop, I sincerely hope that they are able to upgrade from last season. It's in everyone's interest that the A West loop is as competitive as possible and that every game is competitive.

Next season there will be only teen teams with Downview out of the picture. You are right all the top teams are improving on last years rosters, Panthers, Rangers, Devils are all making changes some minor some major to secure 1st place next season. Eagles and West Mall are making changes that they hope will take them deeper into the post season.
Huskies, Ice Dogs and Royals are dismantling and rebuilding.
The Avalanche will be the most improved team next season and will make the playoffs, no changes for the Sharks like their AA brothers they just want to be with friends and are happy with the Clancy.
As for rumors that the top 3 teams their rosters are set.. this is false they know your bottom 3 to 4 players can and should be replaced in order to stay on top. Why else would you join a team unless you want to win it all. Do yourself a favour check out the first three teams first and move on from their.

Don't listen to all the bs on here. the top teams really aren't looking for players. they are just trying to get your money. Think about it! The top teams don't move players around unless they move up and when their players move up they have already approached who they want. Other teams have alot of movement. Stay away from the top three not much movement there. Word around the ice rinks is that all of the other teams are not handing out PTS for lateral moves, which means that their players have to show up to the first skate. the coaches will then decide if they want to keep the player or not. If you are moving up from select I sugguest you go out to first tryouts as second tryouts will be all last years A players trying to get spots with other teams.
There will be alot of movement especially with teams that have new coaching staff. Avs and Royals have new coaching staff. Remember that the Downsview Beavers have folded so their players will be looking for spots.
This is typically the age group (minor midgets) that has alot of movement. Don't base your decision on who won what last season. Eagles, Royals, Avs, Huskies, Westmall etc. will be making alot of changes. Your best chances are there. Last season is done and gone and never forget that most changes in hockey are always for the better. When player play with each other for too long the get too confortable. Not a good situation when you think that you are never going to lose.

STOP trashing coaches on this blog. they volunteer their time, unpaid hundreds of hours when you take into consideration recruiting, planning and running practices, team meetings and coaching games. The parents who do the trashing contribute no time to the teams and seem to get off critizing the people who make minor hockey work, the unpaid volunteers. .

They are not too smart to be conducting meetings in public places like a local coffee shop in Maple. You never know who was there and overheard the loud conversations about how you were going to try to weasel your way out of the mess you got youselves into. Asking people to provide you with fake documents indicating something different from what your were originally provided with. Dropping peoples names who you were going to try to get to help you out. Dropping other coaches names that play in the same division with your team etc etc etc. Not too bright FELIX. Unless parents speak up and voice the wrong doings of these individuals to the GTHL nothing will be done. A slap on the hand and a few games for both. I suggest you call and log your complaints/concerns about the above individuals with the Avs and the GTHL. I did!

I don't believe Duffield will fall if at all in the standings. They will remain strong with or without old or new players. Players come and players go and you parents, coaches and to some degree players should not care. Each year changes have to be made. Sometime these changes are not initiated by the coaches. Do you think players who leave walk away not remembering the friends they met and the great season they may or may not have had. There are players on that team who can improve their work ethic, improve there fitness, and improve there skills. If they accept the challenge all teams will need to worry. They can win with anyone missing. They have been at the very top for two years. The players themselves will need to determine and realize the type of commitment that is required to remain at the top. Will they show up, or will there be some sort of letdown? Best of luck, and continue to have fun.

The only team not to improve is the Devils. VR, VP, WM and TE have all improved their clibs from last year. I am not sure that the Devils quick decline is all that inevitable... they will be right in there again this year.
I think this year it will be VR and WM battling for the top spot. DD VR and TE bringing it up....

You also think that Vaughan Rangers and Westmall Lightening are going to be the top teams other than Duffield but Eagles and Panthers have improved quite a bit too so it's hard to call how is going to be first, second, third, and so on. The eagles have not improved, he got rid of all the kids he signed last year and scrambled to fill the spots, kids that said they were coming did not show up. There leading scorer went to AA and they have not replaced that offence.
He ended up signing # 88 of the Huskies, he can be a good player if handled properly, but I think the eagles will be working on penalty kills quite a bit.
