New X1/9 Front Wheel Drive chassiis

I'm new in this forum and I've read a lot of interesting opinions and ideas.

Fiats roots are in building fun and stylish affordable cars for the many and not the few, for this we have other manufactures ( on a sliding scale: Ferrari, Maserrati, Porsche, Mercedes, Bmw and so on).

I believe that times are changing and a new mid-engine from Fiat would be the wrong car and useless, as an affordable and stylish little roadster.

Instead they should go back in designing cars like the old Fiat 850 spider/coupe of the 1960's, they were inexpensive and stylish little cars for the masses, that could never afford or have a Ferrari,Lamborghini, Maserati, , but could still buy a stylish little roadster or coupe for little extra money over the fiat 850 sedan.

Maybe they could supply the chassis and mecchanicals to all the independent Design studios/Carrozerias to build their own special as in the 1960's ( remenber : ABARTH,VIGNALE,MORETTI,FISSORE,LOMBARDI and PININFARNA and all the others).

I would design a new roadster on the new Fiat Panda chassis, it would have to have the handling of the Lotus Elan(1992 model) or Peugeot 205 gti 1,9., the innovative manufacturing of the Multipla and dimensions of 3,2 meters for downtoon congested traffic. You need to have fun with you car but also park it in congested cities during the day!. If you wanted to tune the car you could use the ABARTH badge and bring back this great little Marque.

This would be the challenge for Fiat, a diminutive little roadster/coupe at a very low price, using modern technology(JTD engines and other) and an existing chassis(Panda and Panda4x4) you could create the 21st century X1/9 and not the 70's x1/9 !.

Beautiful car as it was then, it would be out of context in today economic envirorment, were every car manufacture is catering for the well off and no one for all the others, smaller and smarter cars are the future for Fiat.

Design a smaller and cheaper roadster and you would have a winner........ , I just thought that this could be my next design project................

Ciao
Italo
