A New X?

February 21 2005 at 5:57 PM

I have owned 5 X's since 1978. A 74, a 78, a 79 an 80 and an 87. As cars come and go the X is a good fit. Man an machine in unison. The new X, whether under powered or overpowered must handle crisply and always be predictable.

As hard as I have pushed the cars I have owned, I have never been surpized to where it would be pointing no matter how hard I drove it.

As an die hard X lover and I still have 3 in the gararge. I am saving my money in hope that this car will become reality.

Expect me to buy a copy and I am hoping $50K Canadian or less, but don't expect me to let anyone work on it but myself. Most of us work on our own cars and will continue to do so. Bad news for the dealers, but great for the X lovers.

I would suppose if I were to design a car I would look at at a website like this one and others and see what us X guys have done to our cars over the years.

Think about it for a moment, all the little fixes and Horse power mods. Look not only at this section, but the one that tells the story, we as a group collectively have made and modified these cars to what we as drivers wanted.

O sure a wish list is great, but the truth lies in the other columns of how improve and resolve the weaknesses of the car and it's shortcomings.

As an X lover, Fiat has given us a dream, to disscuss, think and share ideas with others like ourselves. And that too is an accomplishment.

I like that presentation, very thoughtful and constructive, made me proud to be an Xhead reading that

Whether a new X is made or not, it's a blessing to have such good folks in the group of fans of the original

Peace, -Mac
