Hold your horses, the industry is in freefall: Sierra canceled several sims today

by Rick.50cal

ProPilot series, Desert Fighters, Babylon5 space combat... all canceled, along with layoffs of 105 pers.

Someone started a rumor yesterday that DID (EF2000 guys) site is no longer there, and may be shutting down or restructuring/changing focus away from sims.

Now... I know that this is DI and the other companies are totally separate, BUT... I have a very bad feeling about the industry right now, and if DI does not get unbelievable sales of SH, you can forget T2.

Two things that may have already killed many sales of DI's SH : the unofficial demo (it was not approved for release, but was anyway) did not impress many of those who DL'ed it. The second thing is the revelation two weeks ago that SH will not ship with a dynamic campaign. We will have to wait 4 months for that, and buy a "GOLD" version with the upgrade.

No confirmed word on discounts for previous buyers. Lots of people felt burned by DID's ADF\TAW fiasco, and see DI doing the same with SH/SHGold.

"We're not out of the woods yet, kid!"
