Two Baltimore teenagers charged in a bungled Sept. 23 carjacking along the Appalachian Trail apparently hopped a freight train with their bicycles that day on a lark and ended up riding deep into West Virginia.
The 14-year-old said he and Payne got on another train and rode back as far as Weverton in southern Washington County off Md. 67.
It was there the two are accused of threatening a Hagerstown man with a BB gun during a failed carjacking at an Appalachian Trail parking lot on Weverton Road, the Washington County Sheriff's Department said.
