Response to Northeast Earthquakes

The largest earthquake in recorded history for the eastern United States occurred in the Boston area in 1755. This earthquake was centered off the coast of Cape Ann in northeastern Massachusetts. Another major earthquake struck Boston in 1727.

According to a researcher at a major west coast university, the overall earthquake risk in Boston is greater than San Francisco.
