Response to
Northeast Earthquakes
The largest earthquake in recorded history for the eastern United States occurred in the
Boston
area in
1755
. This earthquake was centered off the coast of Cape Ann in northeastern Massachusetts. Another major earthquake struck Boston in
1727
.
According to a researcher at a major
west coast university
, the overall
earthquake risk
in Boston is greater than San Francisco.
