Sorry for his passing

I did not know Jack and was not familiar with his organization until I read the article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch about his death. I am a mountain hiker myself and appreciate the outdoors in a way that only fellow climbers can experience. I hold Jack in high esteem and admire his accomplishments in both reaching the highest summits in all the 50 states and establishing the Highpointers Club. I was further surprised to learn of his home near Taum Sauk, a mountain that I have hiked several times and visited the general area, since I live not far from there in St. Louis. I know the members will miss him dearly but his spirit lives on in the many of us who continue to climb.
