TWO missing climbers stranded in freezing conditions guided rescuers to them by text message.
The couple became stuck in the Coire an t-Sneachda area of the Cairngorms after the 20-year-old woman hurt her ankle in a fall.
She and her 24-year-old male companion were unsure where they were but sent a text message to tell a friend of their plight.
She called 999 and was put through to police in Aviemore.
Then, as 20 members of the Cairngorm Mountain Rescue Team set out to find the climbers, they texted the friend again with a rough grid reference of where they believed they were 3000ft up the mountain.
The rescue team eventually got off the hill at 6am after 36 hours at work.
They had earlier been involved in a search for a husband and wife from Northern Ireland who reached the summit of Cairn Gorm on Friday but became disorientated on their descent.
