Michael Lynn, 54, was being treated yesterday afternoon at Lakes Region General Hospital for frostbite, after spending two nights unprepared for the coldest days of the year. He and his dog, a Husky mix, were flown out of Carrigain Notch yesterday morning via an Army National Guard helicopter, according to Fish and Game Sgt. Jim Goss. The dog was in good condition. Lynn was in stable condition at Lakes Region General.
Lynn set out early Wednesday morning with snowshoes and cross country skis and his dog, planning to do a 13-mile loop along the Nancy Pond trail to Carrigain Notch and down the Sawyer Pond trail.
