A 40-storey drop killed a Calgary man who was climbing a Kananaskis mountain, an investigation revealed.

"We believe he fell about 400 feet, measuring from where we found footprints," said George Field, public safety specialist for K-Country and a member of the search party that discovered the young man's body Tuesday.

Alex Sullivan, 18, left his Calgary home about 7 a.m. Monday, said Kananaskis RCMP Cpl. Keith Blake.

At first light Tuesday, Sullivan's body was spotted on the southeast ridge of Mt. Lorette by a search team in a RCMP helicopter.
