A UC Berkeley student fell 200 feet off a cliff and survived Sunday during a Big Sur hiking trip.
It was the same park where two San Francisco teenagers fell to their deaths last week.
Gustavo Huber, 19, left the main trail in Los Padres National Forest to help a friend who himself had fallen about 15 feet, said Deputy Jess Mason of the Monterey County Sheriff Department.
Huber's friend had hiked about 200 feet off the main Pine Ridge trail, apparently in search of a waterfall, Mason said.
Grabbing a first-aid kit, Huber ran to his friend's aid and found him uninjured. Huber then tripped on a shrub and fell the equivalent of 20 stories, landing back on the main trail, Mason said.
