SUMMERHAVEN, AZ - Firefighters were sounding increasingly optimistic Wednesday morning about stopping the 26,750-acre Aspen Fire before it does any more property damage in the Catalinas.
Crews plan to keep constructing fuel breaks on the fire's northern end to protect
Oracle, which is not considered at risk. If weather conditions permit, they'll start burning out that line to secure it.
This is the first day since the fire's start on June 17 that meteorologists haven't issued a "red flag" warning. Winds are expected to decrease to 10-15 mph and shift from the west and northwest.
