Response to Fatality in San Juan Wilderness in Colorado

A hiker found 200 yards from his camp site in the South San Juan Wilderness in Conjeos County may have suffered altitude sickness and dehydration, Sheriff Joe Taylor Jr. said.
Authorities started looking for Sean Michael Spinney, 23, of Lakewood, Friday after family members notified officials that he was missing. His body was found Sunday.
The area, about 190 miles south-southwest of Denver, ranges from 11,500 feet to 13,000 feet above sea level.
