Pierce County (WA) trails advocate dies

One of the key figures in establishing Pierce County's Foothills Trail has died.

Claudia Peters, 58, died Aug. 21 from breast cancer, said Chuck Morrison, executive director of the Foothills Rails-to-Trails Coalition.

Morrison said he spoke over the phone with Peters a couple of weeks ago.

"She wanted to keep going. She wanted to keep working," he said.
