Life Insurance for climbers

I just spoke to a life insurance company about getting a quote for a term life insurance policy. They asked me whether I do any mountain climbing (among other things). They then asked what was the highest altitude I've climbed (odd question I thought) and whether I planned to climb anything higher. I had no interest in lying to them, so I told them I planned to climb Mt. McKinley in the next five years or so. They said that they couldn't give me a quote for the insurance because they didn't want to insure me.

Has this happened to anyone else. I found it kind of funny. I can get life insurance through work without even having to answer questions about climbing, so its not like I can't get insurance.

Is this just one odd company?
