A hiker is in the hospital this weekend after apparently falling off a 125-foot cliff in Fitchburg.
A man driving an all-terrain vehicle came across the woman about 2:15 p.m. Friday at the base of a rock formation known by some as "The Cliffs" in north Fitchburg near the Ashby line. The woman, 44-year-old Susan Livi of Lunenburg, had parked her car about 75 yards from the cliff.
Police found an Audubon book and other items in her car that suggested she was a hiker.
Police say it looks like an accident, and speculate that the woman was knocked from the cliff by Friday's high winds.
