Emery County Sheriff LaMar Guymon (GYE-mun) says Justin Harris and his brother Jeremy were rappelling down an 80 foot cliff Saturday in the Baptist Draw area of Shute Canyon.
That's in the San Rafael Swell area about 20-miles from Interstate-70.
Justin fell about 10 feet and broke his leg. His brother decided to leave him there with heavy clothing and food, and hike back to his car to call for help.
It took him all night Saturday and all of Sunday to get back to the car because of freezing temperatures. Guymon also said Jeremy had a synthetic hip.
Two rescue teams finally got to Justin late last night and were able to hoist him out of the canyon this morning. He'll be life-flighted to the hospital but is expected to recover.
