Nokia unveiled a wireless push-to-talk phone Monday aimed at outdoor adventurers and athletes.
The company said in a statement that its new Nokia 5140 GSM phone comes with a digital compass, built-in flashlight, camera, and fitness application to help athletic users manage their training. The phone's housing also is bump, splash and dust resistant, Nokia said. The company also introduced an add-on that would give the phone GPS capabilities such as route guidance.
The included Fitness Coach feature is aimed at helping athletes prepare and monitor workouts. In addition, in a separate announcement, Nokia said it was working with Polar Electro, a vendor of heart rate monitoring equipment for athletes, to connect the 5140 to Polar's equipment.
Nokia said the 5140 will be available in all markets during the second quarter of 2004. The company provided no pricing information.
