More closures are being imposed in the Tonto National Forest in the Payson area due to extreme fire danger.
The closure takes effect at 8 a.m. Thursday and involve areas south of Highway 260.
Included are Christopher Mountain, Snowshoe Ridge, Turkey Peak and Colcord Mountain.
Developed campgrounds in or near the areas are exempt. So are people who live within the closure areas and their guests.
Fire restrictions, meanwhile, cover the entire Tonto National Forest, plus some areas of the forest were closed previously and remain closed.

Grand Canyon National Park-AP) -- Starting Thursday, fire restrictions take effect inside the Grand Canyon National Park.
Smoking will be prohibited in all backcountry areas.
Wood and charcoal fires as well as candles or other open flames will also be prohibited.
Beginning Wednesday morning, the Coconino National Forest is imposing additional fire restrictions.
Forest users will not be able to use chain saws or drive off forest roads, except to park in designated areas, between 9 in the morning until eight at night.
Welding or operating torches with open flames will also be outlawed.
The limitations are being added to existing smoking and campfire restrictions.
There have been 35 human-caused fires on the Coconino National Forest this year.
