Profanity couldn't have be more necessary having your arm pinned down by an 800 lb. rock in the Utah desert. There's hardly a more perfect reason for throwing a few curse words to the wind. I found Aron's article fascinating and I appreciate him telling his account as accurately and candidly as he did. Even before this accident I had tremendous respect for the guy and his mountaineering acheivements. Climbing almost all of the Colorado 14ers in winter SOLO including Capitol and the Bells. Gannett Peak in 30 hours. Summiting Denali from 14,000 feet after recovering from getting sick at 18,000. Not to mention that small feat of cutting off his own arm and walking out to safety.
I can understand some of the Monday morning quarterbacking about "should have told somebody where he was going" etc, etc. But now you're going judge the guy on how he should tell his account of surviving this ordeal? Put yourself in his situation for 5 or 6 days and try to have some empathy.
