A light earthquake, registering magnitude 4.0, rattled the area 17 miles southeast of Mount Rainier National Park on Monday.
The quake hit at 2:05 p.m. about 12 miles northwest of the Goat Rocks wilderness area in Lewis County, according to the University of Washington seismology laboratory in Seattle.
Lewis County had no reports of injuries or property damage from the quake, said John Wickert, supervisor at the county's 911 center.
Patti Wold, the interpretive media specialist at Mount Rainier National Park, said she heard the rumbling and felt the shaking.
