I have to admit that it was a fascinating show with him and Tom Brokaw. The magazine article was okay, just enough to get me interested in the book, which I'll probably buy. What impressed me was (a) the gravity of his situation when actually seeing it on film and (b) Ralston's general calmness recounting his ordeal. Okay, he blundered and his luck ran out on him at that particular canyon and time. But he got through it and seems to be genuinely appreciative. Good for him. Seriously!
I assumed, like probably everyone else who only got the info from the nooze, that he sawed through his bones. But to break them by torquing himself? Dang.
