Response to October 2004 Accidents/Rescues

A Russian tourist was struck and killed by lightning while on the summit of Huayna Picchu in Peru:

If you're familiar with the postcard view of the ruins at Machu Picchu, Huayna Picchu is the rocky spire that sticks up at the south end of the ruins. I climbed Huayna Picchu a few years ago when we toured Peru. It's a great scramble up some rather airy Inca steps and worth the couple of hours if you're ever on the site, and the weather is cooperative.
