1. Hold the banquet in a hall that accomodates more than 300 people. I think those Urbansky guys said they had a hall in Ohio that held at least 400. The club is growing, so a hall with 275 capacity probably won't be enough.
2. Hold the events closer than 40 miles from the high point. I think Don Holmes said his hall was 40 miles away. That's not acceptable. Maybe he should have put a little more effort into finding someplace closer.
One of the challenges that we face as our Club, and our Konventions, get bigger is finding suitable Konvention facilities. Most state highpoints are located in rural areas where there generally aren't many large meeting facilities close by. Many highpoints are further restricted by their relative remoteness and are surrounded by large areas of public lands such as National Forests and National Parks.
There are more facilities available in large metropolitan areas but most state highpoints are not in metropolitan areas. Thus, to find a suitable Konvention facility one would have to look beyond a short radius from the highpoint. Very few states have a banquet facility that seats more than 300 people within 40 miles of its state highpoint. Therefore, a 40-mile distance is not too far to go from the highpoint to the Konvention facilities.
