The first benefit is to take an active role in supporting your passion. You'll learn soon enough that altitude and weather aren't the only obstacles to reaching highpoints. Sometimes it's red tape. That's were the club comes in. We work to make all HPs accessible!
The other benefit is access to other HPers that like to help newbies reach difficult summits like Hood. They might even live in the same state!
Go ahead, throw away that $20 per year on membership. You should be so lucky to invest as wisely in anythibg else!
