Third death in the Catskills this year. Hope this is the last.

"CATSKILL -- A hiker from Delmar fell to his death in the Catskills this morning, emergency responders said.

William J. Costello, 53, fell from an area known as "Devil's Kitchen" near Platte Clove Road in the Town of Hunter around 10:30 a.m., authorities said.

He dropped about 100 feet into brush, according to Steve Tuomey, assistant chief of the Tannersville Fire Department. State Police said Costello was an inexperienced hiker and unfamiliar with the territory. He lost his footing and slipped on steep terrain, the State Police said."
