Flying into Denver does seem to make sense then - from a price and driving standpoint. I will look into this for sure instead of the grueling route I picked. I can't thank you folks enough. It's 577 mi from Denver airport to ND's high point. 9 hours without a stop according to Mapquest. I could do that in one day for sure. Then if I do Wheeler Peak last, I could get back to Denver's airport on 310 miles or 5.5 hours.
So... I wonder if I should wait till August now if the snow will be less or if it doesn't really matter much? As long as I don't need crampons to do it in July... I'm good. I can walk around huge snow fields if need be, and there should be lots of people up there potentially in July too, right? On the weekdays, are there still usually people around on Wheeler Peak or could I be alone most of the the time? I'm going to put a post on this forum and maybe find someone to do it with when it gets closer to the time. AND, I have a buddy from California that offered to do it with me one day if the timing worked out ok for him, jobwise.
