I think it's caught up w/me. 5 or 10 years ago I was climbing peaks like King's (4123 m.) or Elbert (4399, 3 ascents) at a reasonable pace, and jogging up to NCAR here, a 260-m. climb (850'). Did fairly well on W. Spanish Peak (4152 m., 13 626) last yr. but just now I practically ground to a halt trying to get over W. Maroon Pass, 3800 m. (12 500') on the annual CU "Death March"--it practically was. No energy. Gave up running as made better time walking. This despite workouts, no weight problem, etc. It's frustrating but I guess I won't make that trek in Ladakh to 17 000' (5200 m.). Still make fair time up hills low down but everybody passes me. Wonder if this is supposed to happen by 60, which I just turned.
