Response to Study: New Powerplants Would Adversely Affect Rainer and Hood for More Than A Month Each Year


A 15-year-old boy visiting from Illinois died Wednesday after a freak accident that happened while he was climbing Mount Hood.

Witnesses said a refrigerator-sized sheet of ice fell on Evan Clark near a glacier on the Timberline Trail west of Cloud Cap.

Clark was hiking with family and friends at the 5,500-foot level on the north side of the mountain when a four- or five-foot diameter sheet of ice fell on him
