I'm going from Guadalupe NP (or Carlsbad Caverns NP) to either Kenton OK or Taos NM.
Should I go up I-25 to Taos or cut across the "back roads" of NM?
If I decide to go to the OK HP, Should I head up I-25 to Raton NM and cut over to Kenton OK from there? Should I go through Lubbock & Amerillo?
I've done the mapquest thing but they tend to compare times based on posted speed limits and my experience in NM is that if you drive 10 (or 15) mph over the limit, stay to the right so people can fly past. Instead I'll go w/ traffic, but I'd like to get a handle on which is the 'best' route. I'll be coming down from Albaquirky on I-25, so I'll have already seen the sites. On the other hand, if there is not much to see heading north from Carlsbad, maybe going back on the Interstate is best. BTW: I have no interest in Roswell, UFOs, etc.
