Snow pack in Sierra this year?

I read where they got about 130% of normal snow this winter. How does that equate to snow levels in late July/early August? Specifically looking at a trip from Giant Forest to Mt. Whitney along the High Sierra Trail. I heard it is clear now from Crescent Meadow to Bearpaw Meadow but snow covered beyond that. What will the trail be like from July 28th to Aug. 4th based on this knowledge & observation? Thanks!

You might want to check the WPS message board for the most up-to-date information and discussions about what the late summer may hold.

Based on comments on that board recently, I don't think you'll have problems in late July. Maybe a few patches of snow here and there above 12,000' but nothing you can't just walk over. Plus, by then, there'll be plenty of deep boot paths even where there is still snow.
