We had a ball at the Konvention after dealing with some heat and a few SNAFU"s that generally go along with these things.
Folks started coming in on Thursday afternoon, taking advantage of things to do in the area. Many with young ones of their own, Grand kids, etc... The swimming pool definitely served it's purpose both during the break times and at the "Friday Night Burger's and Dog's" event. We had to switch to a more shaded spot in the pool area / court yard which provided a nice breeze as well.
Saturday found many Highpointer's using different options to enjoy the day while preparing for the evening festivities. The Folk Art Center presentations, Mount Mitchell visit, Biltmore Estate & NC Arboretum tours, Chimney Rock Park, Grandfather Mountain and many more.
Taylor Ranch provided a beautiful atmosphere, although the heat was a bit of a problem but subsided as the Sun went down and we settled in to eat some fine North Carolina BBQ and a few beverages. Before, and after dinner, the young ones could fish at the pond and roast marshmallows at the fire ring while the older folks got the run down on the upcoming Wisconsin Konvention presented by the great legend in his own mind Jim Sutton and a wonderful presentation by Stuart Smith.
After Don Holmes' annual "Lame Joke",

door prizes were dished out. We had a special raffle to offset Konvention cost's and gave away several smoker's, grills and a wooden highpoint map provided by Bob Ferris. Thanks Bob.
This was the prime time to bag the "Southern Six-Pack." Many were taken before, during and on the way out of the show. Congratulations to all that bagged any or all.
One thing for sure... THERE IS CERTAINLY A PATRICK CRAFT PERSON!!! Many actually met him and it's not really a Zorro kinda thing.
