Gannet peak via Ink river June 5 2007 at 8:43 PM
I have a party going to hike to Gannet peak in August...
Does anybody know who to contact to go across the Indian reservation.
I have a phone number, but I never can get any phone contact.
I would appreciate some help.
Also, anybody with any glacier experience is welcome to join the fun!!!
Also what is the easiest route to conquer the peak?
That should bring up some discussion.

I talked to a lady in Crowheart. She gave us a price of $200 / person to haul us to Cold Spring. Somewhat pricey! Additionally, there is a tribal permit (round trip) of $45 required.
However, our party is favorable to considering this or other options.
I didn't get any response to my thread, but I thought I would pass along the info.
If anybody got hauled for less, I would like to hear this.
Also, I was interested in learning if there are other options to hiring this one lady driver.

low snow year June 21 2007, 10:37 PM
Keep your ears to this site and especially to summitpost.org, to hear about any conditions on the upper mountain. It's been a very low-snow year, and what i've been told is that by August, it could become an especially technical climb from Gooseneck Glacier up to the summit ridge.
