Robert Hyman, Northeast Coordinator and D.C. Liaison for our Club has advised of the closure of Fort Reno Park. The National Park Service closed the Park after discovering arsenic concentrations in the area. A snow fence has been placed around the Park and will remain closed until testing is complete in 7-10 days. Additional news information can be found at washingtonpost.com. Hopefully this will be a temporary closure.

MSNBC Story About Clousre of Fort Reno Park

May 16 2008, 5:07 PM

MSNBC has a good story about the closure of Fort Reno Park in Washington, D.C. A video of the local news report can be viewed by clicking on the link titled 'Watch The Report' http://video.nbc4.com/player/?id=251860 . Several other parks in the area have also been tested for arsenic, however the decision was made not to close them. It's still unclear how long Fort Reno may remain closed.
