Actor Kevin Bacon's band, among others, will play on top of Pikes Peak for a cancer charity, Love Hope, Strength Foundation.

Cy Curnin will play at the peak's base, and Bacon Bros will play on top at 1pm. Also slated are The Fixx and The White Buffalo.

Previous concerts have been held near Machu Picchu and Everest.

Pikes Peak is over-rated

I think Pikes Peak is over-rated. I've been there twice.
I think Mount Evans is a better, less commercial or crowded experience, with superior views too.
That's without factoring in Mount Evans being higher too.

Try a cool route

Yeah, Pikes can be a bit frustrating dealing with tourists on the summit, but I don't think you'll find it overrated if you dayhike Barr Trail. For a true mountaineering experience, try the Y couloir on the north face. There's a remote, rugged personality to the mountain on that side.
