the sights that come standard with the 1000X are not too bad. Plastic, but easily adjustable by fingers for elevation and windage, and are surprisingly robust. I found i could NOT get my sighting low enough for anyting under 25 yards however. Upon close examination, it appears that the rear sight notch can be (and looks like it should have been) cut deeper...which would allow for a shorter point of aim. I did cut it deeper with some careful application of a dremel tool grinder and voila! some closer sigting is available.

looking for scope/mount suggestions

what works for you? seeking suggestions here...

my first combination of scope with see-thru rings was no good, as awkward to position head to see through the scope with it so high up!

my second combination of scope with low rings is not good as bell of ocular lens is right on top of the thumb safety, making in awkward to operate. either i need taller rings, or another combination all together...

I use a Leaper 1 piece mount that I got from Sunshine airguns, with a BSA 4x32 AR scope. It does sit above the safety, but there is plenty of room for my thumb. The mount works very well,it clamps down strong enough that I don't even need a scope stop.Mine is mounted on my Daisy 1000s(Walmart special). The mount is about 25 bucks

windage way off

took scope off the rifle and tried the stock sights again this last week. good grief! elevation was good (with my mod to deepen the rear sight notch) but when windage was centered, shot 2+ inches to the right of target at about 25 yards. had to turn windage all the way to the stops (left) to get on target, but still to right of bullseye. further distance would only be worse. it all looks well enough lined up with the barrel, so i wonder if barrel is bent or of sight itself is just that much out of true. makes the sight pretty much unusable. will require further diagnosis.

I just wanted everyone with scope problems to know you can get a leapers one piece scope mount with built in scope mount for 19.99 at pirimid air .com I just bought a soz one piece scope mount from sportsmantarget.com for 18.00 with free shipping. Also you can get one at couguarridgetradingpost.com for 12.95 it is a bam chinese product it will have to be modifide a little to get it to fit I have one on my winchester 1000x,its a good mount no problems in over a year.If you choose this one you will need to spread the mounting grooves a little so it will fit in the air rifle grooves not hard to do then tighten the four screws and its going to stay.I have both the power line 1000 & the winchester 1000x I love them both. The trigger issue with the safty on I squeeze the trigger and take out the first stage of the trigger it makes shot a lot tighter this is done on the none ajustable trigger on my winchester,my power line has the ajustable trigger and its much lighter.I hope this info helps I've had the winchester for three years I've learned a lot about this rifle and would be happy to answer any questions you may have Gary Chester.
