| - I wasn't sure quite what to expect when I opened the box - Sportsman's Guide did email me that this particular model did have a real walnut stock but a non-adjustable trigger. Well, I really was quite surprised to see that the stock is real walnut, with a sort of hand rubbed finish, but with an adjustable trigger. The weight was good, far lighter than my B21, and all in all, quite a nice weapon I thought. I cleaned out the bbl because I wanted to fire a couple of shots to see how the trigger was. Again, I was quite surprised - the trigger pull is around 5-6 lbs. and seems to break quite cleanly. Nothing I can't live with, until it smooths out a bit. It's a tough one to cock though, but I don't think any harder than my short bbl. Beeman C-1. And power it does have. I realise it's probably dieseling a bit, but the recoil is no harder than my C-1. It'll punch through a 3/4" pine board like a hot knife through butter, and in the few shots I fired with open sights, seems to like Daisey pointed pellets more so than Gamo magnums. Crosman Flats print about the same as the Daisey, but the Premiums hit considerably to the right. That's not a fair test I know, but it gave me a little idea about what it likes. I didn't try for any groups or anything like that, but it appears to hit where your aiming. So, time will tell how it's going to hold up, and what it likes to eat. Harlee |

Harlee, thanks for the review! sounds like the Daisy Winchesters have improved their trigger set for the current shipping one. I see these are still available at Sportsmansguide.com -- looks like a pretty good deal. The current wood ones on the site however do not state what the FPS is, so i'd call to confirm before ordering if any wants the 1000X model. They also offer a plastic stock version, which looks like the Hatsan model 70 ricson pointed out in a different thread on this site. | |
