Spring Tar is exactly that: tar for lubricating the main spring

Spring tar, as the name implies, is just a tar. The idea is that the tar will lubricate the part to reduce the friction, and this will (1) improve acuracy by making the spring untwist without causing the gun to do so in the other direction as much as without the tar, (2) improve power by allowing the spring to unload faster, (3) increase consistency by allowing the spring to decompres in a more similar manner each time, and (4) reduce spring twang by acting as a dampner.
Having said all this, spring tar is used when the gun is tuned (something not done on a regular basis). This means that you must disassamble the spring piston part of the gun (not something to be done by beginers, as it is a bit dangerous if you do not know what you are doing), removing all previous lubrication, and relubricating (ussually after polishing some components and changing others such as piston seals).
Unless you plan on tuning your gun, you do not need this.
