Have been lurking for a few days and thought I should get registered and get posting!
Some great info on here!
I have the Turkish Hatsan MOD70 300 m/s with plaggy stock and yesterday replaced the trigger springs with pen springs and the trigger is now much lighter, although still not perfect.
Must say I'm having some accuracy problems, struggling to get a 8" grouping at 20m! The gun has a viscious recoil so am holing the rifle lightly but my grouping is still poor. I do find that I can "wobble" the barrel very slightly when cocked, even after I've tightened all the screws. Does anyone else have this issue?
I've tried a few diff pellets, RWS professionals, RWS hobby, Gamo pro magnum, but it makes no difference.
My sight is now very secure with an accushot one-piece mounting so it's not that causing the problem.
Can anyone give some advice?
Cheers

I'm glad you've chosen to join.
Eight inch groups at 20m is rather bad. Even when mine was just out of the box it would do better than that. A few things to look into...
The trigger spring swap works best if you polish the trigger surfaces and apply a light film of moly lubricant. Modifying the trigger adjustment screw will help further.
You didn't describe how much barrel movement was present on your gun. How much effort is required to move the barrel and in which direction can it be moved (side to side vs. up/down)? If it has too much movement up/down then it is a lock-up issue. If it has too much play side to side then it is a pivot issue.
Have you cleaned your barrel? The barrels on these rifles are a mess when new!
When looking at your 20m groups, do the pellets follow a pattern? Do they tend to spread horizontally or vertically?
Have you tried a different shooter? Can these results be duplicated with another shooter?
The recoil on this rifle is heavy, especially with the synthetic stock. Much of this is due to the low weight of the rifle (approx. 6 lbs). Adding some weight to the butt of the rifle may help with this. I've found that this gun isn't that hold sensitive but I am rather used to shooting with heavy recoil. When sitting, I allow the forestock to rest on my open palm. I allow the rifle to ballance on this hand so that there is little pressure at the butt.

The barrel movement is side to side and is very slight. When i hold the stock betweem my knees I can move the barrel from side to side so that it makes a very slight clicking noise.
I haven't cleaned the barrel, will have a shufty pon the forum as I think there were some instructions somewhere.
There doesn't seem to be any pattern with the grouping, but I'll have another few shots this afternoon and look a bit closer.
2 other people tried shooting too, both said "this gun shoots where it wants to" and had equally poor reuslts, although neither of these people were specialst airgunners, they shoot powder weapons.
Would be itnerested to know how far along the rifle you position your left hand?
cheers

at the front edge of the scope grooves or approx. 3 inches behind the stock screws.
The barrel movement doesn't sound right at all. There should be a washer on each side of the barrel pivot, you might want to make sure these are present. You will have to take it apart to check this but it might be worth the effort. The fit between the barrel and receiver should be very snug. If the washers are in place, add a little moly lubricant, reassemble, and try to tighten the pivot screw until the movement is eliminated. Don't forget to remove the small lock screw before turning the large pivot screw. If that doesn't work, adding some shims in the pivot area with the washers might work.
Not sure how long you have had this gun or how old it is but perhaps it would be best to exchange it under warranty if you have one.

I've tightened up the main pivot nut and my shooting has improved no end, however I have managed to sheer the retaining screw so will fashion a new one. I think it was the barrel wobble casuing the problems. The gun is about 5 weeks old.
I'll report back how I get on in case it helps anyone else with similar issues.

Re: So tightening the barrel pivot corrected this? nt

Yes it seems to have improved my grouping from 8" to about 4" at 20m. The only problem is keeping the pivit nut tight, it loosens after 5-10 shots even when cranked with a retaining screw. Am wondering whether I should put the jaws of the breech in a vice and tighten it up a bit.

you may want to try applying some blue locktite to the pivot and see what that does. Glad to hear that you are making progress though.
Oh, did you find the washers between the barrel block and receiver?
